Mother of Perpetual Help
Today many Catholics around the world will start a novena in honour of the Mother of Perpetual Help, the famous icon kept in the church of St. Alphonsus Liguori in Rome.
A novena (from ‘novem’, the Latin word for nine) is a devotion which consists of private or public prayers repeated for nine successive days, often with a special intention.
